Mark Berger has been a health & fitness entrepreneur and philanthropist in New Orleans Louisiana for the past 8+ years. He is a partner in Varsity Sports, a local running store. He has a private yoga, fitness, run coaching, corporate wellness, nutrition, weight-loss, and strength training business called Berger Fitness & Yoga. He created the largest running group in the city of New Orleans, Happy’s Running Club NOLA, and enjoys putting on local races, such as the 504K and The Gleason Classic. Mark was the owner of two boutique yoga, cycling, and TRX studios and used to be the strength & conditioning coach for Loyola Women’s Basketball where they won three conference championships in a row. He has been the Keynote speaker for Humana and American Diabetes Association on movement, nutrition, goal-setting, and corporate wellness.
Mark’s philanthropic efforts can be seen through his involvement with Youth Run NOLA and Project Peaceful Warriors as a consultant, has helped with fundraising and programs, and has taught running and yoga to children at inner city schools. He is heavily involved with Team Gleason, where he provides many services to help this charitable organization.
His love for all things fitness can be seen by his participation in over 150 endurance events, including Ironman events, marathons, and yoga & fitness events all over the world. He has trained collegiate and professional athletes to perform at their highest levels and has been in the news and online media for his contributions for health & wellness. He most recently has gone around the world with Big Freedia mixing fitness, yoga, and bounce dancing, won the 2016 Millennial Award for Business, is getting a “Rising Star” award for Junior Achievement later this year, and brought New Orleans The Power of Love Yoga Jam, the largest yoga event the city has ever seen at the City of Love Church.
